Cherries 2 Nottingham Forest 0

Date: 26 October 2025

Every live match I’ve watched this season has resulted in a win for the Cherries – i.e. both of them!

Seriously, the only surprise in the starting line-up today was Milosavljevic for Diakite which meant, with Kroupi also starting, that we had two teenagers on the pitch. And, as it turned out, neither of them would disappoint.

Despite it being 16 days before Armistice Day, we had the wreath-laying, Last Post and silence before this match. No doubt the players will have to go through this several more times over the next few weeks. But for anyone who feels such a gesture is implicitly racist, it was immediately ‘cancelled out’ by the players all taking the knee before the game got underway!

Forest must have won the toss, because the teams swapped ends and we, unusually, played towards the North Stand in the first half. This half included both goals, (and additional shots from Scott, Tavernier and Semenyo,) so I didn’t get the best view of them from my seat in the South Stand. But the first goal, on 25 minutes, was scored direct from a corner kick taken by Tavernier on Bournemouth’s right. No player on either side got a touch as the ball went in, but Adams played a significant role in getting in the way of the Forest keeper, Sels!

The second goal, a quarter of an hour later, was another brilliant one. Kroupi won the ball in the middle of the park and beat several players before shooting from distance and scoring his third goal in two games. Half time: 2-0.

Any hopes of a spectacular display in front of those of us in the South Stand after the break, were dashed. It was a pretty dull half to be honest, the highlight probably being a missed shot from substitute Brooks. Only three minutes were added at the end of the match, and the two substitutes that came on during that time (Cook and Unal) probably didn’t even get a touch. But no matter; we’d won 2-0 and climbed to second place in the Premier League!

The team lined up as follows at the start of the game:

Petrovic;
Jimenez, Milosavljevic, Senesi, Truffert;
Scott, Adams;
Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo;
Kroupi

By the ninetieth minute the line-up was:

Petrovic;
Jimenez, Milosavljevic, Senesi, Truffert;
Christie, Adams;
Brooks, Tavernier, Semenyo;
